My Journey to Istanbul – by Ferhan Beslenmis

Istanbul felt like entering a world made of many worlds. Kurds, Turks, Armenians, Greeks — millions of stories woven together. With nearly six million Kurds living here, their presence shapes the city’s rhythm.

Walking through the historic center, I felt the traces of Greek, Roman, and Byzantine civilizations. Aya Sofya overwhelmed me with its beauty — a dialogue between centuries, faiths, and cultures.

My Journey to Qamishlo – by Al Nouri

Qamishlo felt like a city living between past and future. The streets were full of life: children playing, merchants selling spices and fruit, and warm Kurdish voices everywhere. The people welcomed me with sincerity and pride.

I walked through old neighborhoods with bakeries, cafés, and traditional homes. The Kurdish flag waved above rooftops — not just a symbol, but part of daily life.

My Journey to Hewlêr (Erbil) – by Karwan Usîv

Hewlêr welcomed me with a vibrant mix of history and modern life. The city is full of energy, pride, and openness — yet everywhere you feel the deep Kurdish identity that shapes it.

I climbed up to the ancient citadel, standing like a crown above the city. From its walls, I saw Hewlêr’s full diversity: modern towers, old bazaars, wide boulevards, and lively neighborhoods.

  2. Sami Abdulrahman Park — A peaceful green oasis in the city.

My Journey to Mersin – by Tanja Memedov

I arrived in Mersin and immediately felt the warmth of the city — not only the Mediterranean sun but also the hospitality of its people. The streets were filled with voices, scents, and colors: Kurdish families, Arab merchants, Turkish students — all sharing the same sea breeze and the same everyday life.

In the evenings, the air smelled of grilled fish and spices, while music drifted from small cafés. The people were open, friendly, and proud of their heritage. Mersin is not just a place to visit; it is a place to feel.

  1. Kızkalesi — The “Maiden’s Castle” rising from the sea, perfect for swimming and sunset walks.
  2. Tarsus — One of Anatolia’s oldest cities, full of ancient ruins and history.
